Person rescued after falling through Kaministiquia River ice

THUNDER BAY -- A woman is safe after falling through the ice on Friday on the Kaministiquia River. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release, said they received a call for assistance at approximately 3:30 p.m.

THUNDER BAY -- A woman is safe after falling through the ice on Friday on the Kaministiquia River.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release, said they received a call for assistance at approximately 3:30 p.m., told there was an individual walking perilously close to dangerously thin ice.

Three members of the dive unit donned survival suits and used a rapid deployment craft to make contact with the woman.

As the rescue crew drew near, the woman plunged into the water. Acting quickly, the pulled the person to safety, where Thunder Bay Police and Superior North EMS took control of the situation.
