THUNDER BAY – The Ontario Provincial Police underwater search and recovery unit has begun a search of local waterways in an attempt to locate missing teen Josiah Begg.

Thursday’s search will begin at the mouth of the McIntyre River at Lake Superior, working inland from that point.

On Wednesday a helicopter searched the city from the air, looking for information that may assist the search team’s efforts.

Police are also asking residents to check their yards and any outbuildings that may be on their property, as well as trailers and boats to ensure nothing is overlooked.

“The support of the community is essential and appreciated,” said Const. Julie Tilbury in a release issued by police to local media.

Anyone with information is asked to phone police at 684-1200 or Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by visiting www.tipsubmit.com.
