Police Board has new headquarters

The Thunder Bay Police Service Board has moved from the Valhalla Inn to 1111 Victoria Avenue East.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police Service Board held their first meeting yesterday in their new office space.

“We just kind of finalized it. It goes along with our strategic plan for ourselves and our budgeting process. It saves some money in the long run by going here and having our own place to come and do our own business,” Thunder Bay Police Services Board Chair Karen Machado told Newswatch.

The Thunder Bay Police Service Board previously held their meetings in the Valhalla Inn conference rooms, but the move to 1111 Victoria Avenue East will create a cost saving of $20,000 a year, according to Machado.

However, the cost saving isn’t the only benefit of the new location. The board room adds an extra level of comfort for members of the public to watch the board's meetings.

“This is our place where we feel comfortable. We want to make it to enjoy and invite people in,” said Machado.
