THUNDER BAY — Police used video posted to social media to track down a suspect in a hit-and-run collision that occurred on the weekend.

The incident occurred Saturday evening in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of Hodder Avenue.

The TBPS traffic unit launched an investigation after it was made aware of video showing a pickup truck colliding with a parked vehicle.

Police said those images enabled them to identify a driver.

The 45-year-old man is accused of failing to stop after a collision, and is also charged with Highway Traffic Act offences.

The charges have not been tested in court.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed by police, was released from custody on an undertaking to appear in court at a future date.
