Police charged a 21-year-old-man in connection to a series of damaged vehicles near Academy Drive.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to call about a popping noise and a number of car alarms in the area around 5 a.m. on Saturday. Police discovered several damaged vehicles.
Police say they found the man in a damaged van with the ignition punched out and the engine running. Officers blocked the van from moving and took the man into custody. Police say the man possessed tools believed to help him break into the vehicles.
Police charged the man with attempted theft over $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break in instruments.
The man appeared in court on Sunday.
