UPDATE: Police reopen Highway 61 after car fails to stop at border (2 photos)

OPP had a section of Highway 61 taped off after a vehicle failed to stop at the Pigeon River Border; the driver has been apprehended by police.

THUNDER BAY - A car that ran through the border at Pigeon River resulted in the closure of a section of Highway 61.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, at approximately 9:11 a.m. Wednesday morning, a black car failed to stop at the Pigeon River Border Crossing. Officers with the OPP located the vehicle shortly after and conducted a traffic stop, at which time the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. 

The driver was apprehended by officers a short time later. OPP said there are no reports of injuries and there is no word yet on any charges. 

The section of Highway 61 has been reopened.
