There was a significant police presence this evening at the Shuniah landfill, though the Ontario Provincial Police have yet to confirm the nature of the incident.
At least four OPP cruisers were blocking the entrance of the landfill on Highway 11/17 around 8 p.m.
An officer on scene confirmed a larger presence was on scene earlier in the evening. Officers were also seen heading down the road into the landfill with a police dog out of sight of the entrance.
Dougall Media reporters have reached out for comment from police.
