THUNDER BAY — City police were involved in a stand-off over the weekend, which resulted in the arrest of four people.

For five hours on Friday night, police were involved in a stand-off in the city's north end after receiving a call to a home on the 300 block of Balsam St. at around 11 pm.

The Primary Response Branch answered and arrived at the home, finding a female assault victim who was at a different address close to the home in question.

After advising police of a possible firearm in the suspected home, the victim was brought to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Officers from the Emergency Task Unit, the Containment Unit, and Crisis Negotiators engaged with the occupants in a stand-off for several hours.

Four suspects were arrested and taken into custody without incident at around 4:30 am on Saturday.

An imitation firearm was located within the home by police.

A 28 year-old man and a 25-year-old man were arrested, along with a 24-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman who were also brought into custody.

The 28-year-old suspect was remanded into custody for several charges, including assault with a weapon, choking, and various firearms charges. The remaining suspects were released with future court dates.
