Police halt mid-day robbery of an elderly man

An elderly man was approached and allegedly threatened by the suspect.

THUNDER BAY — Police in the city have made an arrest after an attempted robbery.

Thunder Bay Police were in the area of McKellar and Arthur Streets just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday when they spotted a robbery in progress. 

Police report that a male suspect had approached and threatened an elderly male, demanding money. 

The suspect attempted to flee from an officer but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit and struggle. 

A 24-year-old is charged with robbery, uttering threats and breaching probation.

The accused has been remanded into custody with a future court date.
