THUNDER BAY – A review of facility and safety protocols is ongoing by the city after police attended Fort William Gardens just before 11 p.m. on Monday.

TBPS media relations coordinator Matt Vis would only add that the matter "remains an ongoing investigation."

The city issued a statement on Wednesday morning from city manager Norm Gale that confirmed an employee working at Fort William Gardens reported an incident involving a member of the public that placed the employee’s safety at risk.

“Following this incident, we were unable to staff the event that was scheduled at the Gardens on January 30.  The Community Services department is working with Corporate Safety staff to review the facility and security protocols at the Gardens. The safety and well-being of our employees is of the utmost importance,” Gale said.

That event was a scheduled Lakehead Junior Hockey League (LJHL) game.
