Police investigating serious Van Norman Street assault

Sections of Van Norman and St. Paul Street have been cordoned off while police conduct their investigation.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police are investigating what appears to be a serious assault in the downtown north core.

About 25 evidence cones, most placed alongside blood splatters, can be seen at the scene, police cordoning off a section of Van Norman Street from Cumberland Street into the 200 block just beyond St. Paul Street. Traffic on St. Paul Street is being rerouted onto Cooke Street.

Police have not provided any further details about the incident, but police have asked the public to stay out of the area.
