Thunder Bay Police Service received a call about a bear that wandered into a Ridgeway Street East residence around 7 p.m. Police say the bear was in the backyard of a home that had small children and were concerned for their safety. The Ministry of Natural Resources was called however, police say the wait time would have taken too long and officers were forced to kill the bear.

Police say there was no damage to the home.
