Police looking for suspicious man who approached 16-year-old girl

THUNDER BAY – Police are on the lookout for a suspicious man in a white van after he tried to pick up a 16-year-old girl Tuesday morning.

City police say the girl was walking in the area of Balsam and Clayte Streets shortly after 9 a.m. when she was approached by a man driving the white van with tinted windows.

He is said to have motioned for her to get in the van. She refused and the man drove away.

He is described as Caucasian in his 60s with grey hair and wearing a baseball hat.

Police say they are also investigating reports of a suspicious male in the area of Red River Road and Junot Street Monday night around 8 p.m.
