THUNDER BAY – A city police officer charged after a prohibited firearm was stolen from his vehicle last year made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
Thunder Bay Police Service Sgt. James Glena is charged with careless storage of a firearm and breach of a firearms regulation after the police-issued Glock 26 weapon and three magazines were stolen on the night of October 10.
The gun and one of the magazines was turned in to a local attorney’s office in the following days.
Glena, who remains on duty, was charged in February after an OPP investigation.
Glena is scheduled to appear in court again next month.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
