Police raids lead to drug charges against three individuals

More than 90 grams of suspected crack cocaine was seized while executing search warrants at two local residences.

THUNDER BAY — A trio of out-of-town suspected drug traffickers have been arrested after raids on residences on Balmoral Street and Cumberland Street North.

Ontario Provincial Police say they seized about 90 grams of suspected crack cocaine, $5,100 in Canadian currency, nine cell phones, a smart watch, fraudulent identification, four digital scales and packaging material during the execution of search warrants on March 5.

The months-long investigation dates back to January 2025 and involved the OPP-led Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team, along with Thunder Bay OPP, Thunder Bay Police Service and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service. 

A 32-year-old and a 31-year-old from Ottawa have been charged with three counts of possession of an identity document, and one count each of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine.

Both were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

A 33-year-old from Montreal is charged with three counts of possession of an identity document possession for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 10 in Thunder Bay.
