Police release results of school-zone safety blitz

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service released some results from its ongoing traffic safety blitzes around school zones. From Sept. 5 to Sept. 11 a total of 239 tickets were handed out by city police officers.

From Sept. 5 to Sept. 11 a total of 239 tickets were handed out by city police officers. Of those 239 tickets, 147 were for speeding, with many being issued in school zones.

Twelve drivers failed to stop at a stop sign, and eight others were on their cell-phones, police said.
Another six drivers fined were charged for driving with a suspended licence.

Police are now reminding drivers to slow down and pay attention, especially when school is in session.
