Police respond to incident on Cumberland Street South

A significant police presence was seen near the Andras Court apartment building.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Police Service, who were seen Friday morning with weapons drawn, have confirmed an incident in the Andras Court area.

Nearly a dozen police cars were observed at the scene outside the DSSAB apartment building before 9:30 a.m.

The span of Lake Street at the back of the building was closed off to traffic.

Two ambulances also blocked off the corner of Wilson Street and Cumberland Street South at the front of the building.

Police took one person into custody and they began clearing the scene around 10 a.m.

No further information is available at this time. More updates from police are expected today.
