THUNDER BAY — A city police officer was allegedly assaulted after attending a call for service on Monday.

On Jan. 20, police were called to a business in the 400 block on Memorial Avenue around 11:15 a.m.

Primary response officers received reports of an individual assaulting people in the area.

When officers arrived, they learned that a female suspect had entered a business and allegedly assaulted staff and customers while also damaging equipment at the location.

According to police the suspect assaulted one of the officers during her arrest.

None of the individuals that were allegedly assaulted during the incident required medical attention.

A 35-year-old woman has been charged with eight offences, including four assault charges and assaulting a peace officer.

The accused appeared in court on Tuesday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
