Police searching for second murder suspect

Johnna Louise Sonego, 56, is wanted for second-degree murder in the death of a woman at a Mary Street East home earlier this week.

THUNDER BAY — City police are searching for a 56-year-old woman wanted for murder in the death of a woman at a south side home earlier this week.

The Thunder Bay Police Service issued a news release on Friday, asking for public assistance to find Johnna Louise Sonego, who is wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder.

Police are appealing for Sonego to turn herself in, and urging the people who see her to not approach or confront her and instead find a safe place and call 911.

Emergency services responded to a home in the 200 block of Mary Street East on Tuesday, where an adult woman had died after appearing to have sustained serious injuries consistent with a recent assault.

Police have not publicly released the identity of the victim.

A male suspect, 41-year-old Cameron Gary-James Adomko, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of breaching probation. He had been in police custody for an unrelated matter when he was arrested on the murder charge.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
