THUNDER BAY – Investigators believe a coloured SUV seen fleeing the scene was involved in Monday's Marks Street murder as they turn to the public to help solve a crime they say was likely targeted and gang related.
The Thunder Bay Police Service on Friday issued an update on the investigation, releasing a description of a dark charcoal or black newer model Mazda CX5 that was identified fleeing the scene.
Officers were called to the 300 block of South Marks Street just before 5 p.m. on the holiday Monday where a severely injured man was located. The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have provided few details about the circumstances of the death, except to say he suffered trauma from an altercation. A cause of death has not been released.
Investigators are still trying to positively identify the male victim, according to the news release.
