KENORA, Ont. – Kenora OPP have charged a 64-year-old man with trafficking contraband tobacco.
According to a release, police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17a. During the vehicle stop, an officer determined the male driver was transporting a number of unmarked cigarettes.
With the assistance of an OPP K9 unit, police located about 190 cases of illegal tobacco, with an estimated street value of $332,500.
As a result of the investigation, a 64-year-old man from Calgary has been charged with trafficking contraband tobacco and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court June 7.
