City police have seized an estimated $50,000 worth of crack cocaine and fentanyl powder.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say drug enforcement investigators began an investigation in November that focused on a male suspect who was allegedly trafficking in crack cocaine into the city.
Police say officers arrested the suspect on Nov. 25 at a local shopping mall. Following that arrest, officers searched a north-side hotel room in the city.
As a result of that search officers managed to seize about 140 grams of crack cocaine, 3.5 grams of cocaine and 11 grams of suspected fentanyl powder.
Police also seized $575 in Canadian cash and $100 in American cash.
The total value of drugs seized is believed to be almost $50,000.
Todd Sangollo, 44, of Montreal now faces charges of:
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Trafficking in Fentanyl
- Production of Crack Cocaine
- Proceeds of Crime not exceeding $5,000.00
- Resist Arrest
- The suspect was held in custody and made a court appearance on Nov. 26. He remains in custody and is expected to make another court appearance on Nov. 29.
