TORONTO — Porter Airlines says it is the first Canadian airline to require COVID-19 testing or vaccination for all its employees who have contact with passengers.
The company announced Wednesday that it will mandate workers to be fully vaccinated or present a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours of the start of their shift.
Porter will resume service on selected routes, including between Thunder Bay and Toronto, on Sept. 8, with other routes to follow.
The federal government has announced its intention to mandate vaccination for federally regulated employers and workers, including the airline industry, by the fall.
Porter said its own policy may evolve once specific requirements from the government are known.
The company said it also supports the government's plan to require full vaccination for all air travellers.
