Powlowski on track to be re-elected in Thunder Bay-Rainy River

The tight race in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding saw several candidates holding the lead throughout election night.

THUNDER BAY - It has been a tight race between three candidates in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding, but it appears Liberal incumbent Marcus Powlowski will retain his seat.

With 189 of 198 polls reporting, Powlowski has 11,136 votes. The NDP’s Yuk-Sem Won has 9,915 votes while the Conservative Party of Canada’s candidate Adelina Pecchia has 9,841 votes.

People’s Party of Canada candidate Alan Audut has 2,312 votes, while Green Party candidate Tracey MacKinnon has 518.

Throughout the night, the lead was held by all three major party candidates, but as more polls began to report votes, Powlowski widened his lead to more than 1,200 votes.
