THUNDER BAY — Northern Ontario’s most popular baby names are slightly different than the province as a whole.
According to a release from the province’s Public and Business Service Delivery Procurement office, Charlotte is the top girl name for 2023, the most recent statistics available. For boys, it was Jack. Across the province, Olivia was the top girl name and Noah was the top boy name.
Both sit in second place in Northern Ontario.
Rounding out the top 10 regional list for girls are Ava and Ellie, Nora, Abigail and Sophie, Scarlett, Aurora and Harper.
The boys’ list contains Hudson, Oliver, Henry, Levi, William, Benjamin, Liam, Maverick and Theodore, which tied for 10th.
Ontario-wide in 2023, it was Olivia, Charlotte, Ameila, Emma, Sophia, Mia, Sofia, Ava, Mila and Isla. For boys, it was Noah, Liam, Theodore, Oliver, Jack, Lucas, Benjamin, William, Leo and Henry.
