Toronto Maple Leafs fans might be in for another tough year.

And the Toronto Blue Jays might not want to pre-order champagne for October.

While the psychics at a four-day fair in Thunder Bay usually deal with topics of love, finances and work, they were willing to delve into the wide world of sports Sunday at the Travelodge Airlane. The Blue Jays haven’t won a World Series since 1993. Psychic Fair organizer David John remembers not because he is a fan but because he unfortunately drove his truck near the Skydome and watched as unruly fans jumped on the hood.

“It was a dumb street to drive down,” the 70-year-old psychic said.

Not much of a sports fan, John said he feels the Blue Jays will have a decent season but won’t win it all.

“Not right on top but right near the top,” he said.

As for the Leafs, who haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967, they’re on the rise but not enough to go all the way.

“I think they’ve got a good start but I don’t think they’re going to do it,” John said.

John said he usually reads palms and cards to see the whole picture of someone’s life rather than being asked specific questions.
Effie Dimitropoulos is used to being a psychic medium for spirits to speak with loved ones. She was a little more optimistic about the fate of the Leafs, as long as they play together as a team.

“I can actually see them going further into winning,” she said. “A good chance.”

As for the Blue Jays, they just need to believe.

“I would say the Blue Jays have a better chance than the Maple Leafs right now,” Dimitropoulos said. “It’s believing; that’s the key.”

John and Dimitropoulos were just two of around 10 psychics who are in Thunder Bay until 7 p.m. Monday.
