Queen Elizabeth II has died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Queen Elizabeth has passed away according to the official social media accounts of the Royal Family. 
 


The tweet said she died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

She was 96 years old and has been the Queen of the United Kingdom, since she was 25.

Members of the Royal family rushed to be by the Queen's side as she had been under medical supervision.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted:

It was with the heaviest of hearts that we learned of the passing of Canada’s longest-reigning Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant presence in our lives – and her service to Canadians will forever remain an important part of our country’s history. 

Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon released a statement on twitter:

We offer our deepest condolences to the @RoyalFamily on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Canadians across the country will mourn the loss of The Queen. Let us take a moment to honour Her Majesty’s memory in each of our own ways.

King Charles III, formerly Prince Charles is now King of the United Kingdom and Canada. He released a statement as well on his mother's passing:

The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.
