Regional science fair returns in 2021

Students' projects will be judged virtually between April 12 and April 16.

THUNDER BAY – There’s some light at the end of the tunnel for any budding Marie Curies or Albert Einsteins out there.

Registration is now open for the 2021 Northwestern Ontario Regional Science Fair.

This year’s event will be held virtually, after judging was not held last year, with five spots up for grabs at the Canada Wide Science Fair and a chance to win some post-secondary financial support.

Students will be required to use ProjectBoard, a digital platform, to construct the usual project board, and virtual judging will take park in small group sessions the week of April 12 to April 16.

A legal guardian or designated adult must be accessible throughout the judging process and must confirm consent for a student to be permitted to appear on video. Those without an identified adult will not be permitted to take part in the judging process.

Students are allowed to re-use last year’s project as the 2020 fair was non-competitive, though new projects are also encouraged.

Registration fees have been waived for 2021 and projects may be submitted in either English or French.

To take part, fill out a registration form, or for more information, email [email protected].
