THUNDER BAY — The new school year will begin later than usual at Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School.
In a message released on social media, the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council has announced that ongoing renovations in the building on Edward Street North have forced it to delay the school opening to Sept. 9.
Students normally begin classes before the end of August.
NNEC officials could not be reached Wednesday for comment, but the memo refers to "unforeseen circumstances regarding renovation delays."
It said starting the school year later than normal will not have a negative impact on students' education and that the Ministry of Education requirements will still be achieved during the school calendar year.
