THUNDER BAY  A Thunder Bay man has been charged for drunk driving for the second time within a couple of months.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service traffic unit stopped a southbound vehicle early Saturday morning at a Festive Ride program checkpoint on Algoma Street.

After the 37-year-old driver failed to produce a driver's licence, further investigation revealed that he was prohibited from driving for a previous impaired driving conviction.

He was under a 90-day licence suspension after being arrested and charged in October.

The man now faces new charges of operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs, operating a vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and operating a vehicle while prohibited.

His vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

The man received a second 90-day licence suspension, and was released from custody over the weekend with conditions to appear in court at a future date.
