THUNDER BAY — A Thunder Bay-area motorist faces charges after a collision that saw a vehicle overturn on Highway 11/17 on Sunday night.

OPP say the incident happened just before 9:30 pm near Twin City Crossroads in Oliver Paipoonge.

Despite the rollover, the driver suffered no injuries.

But after speaking with him, investigating officers suspected he was impaired by alcohol.

He failed a roadside test, and was taken to the Thunder Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

The 43-year-old Rosslyn resident was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, and with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was released for a court appearance next month but had his vehicle impounded for seven days and received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension.
