THUNDER BAY -- Local public school students were treated to pirouettes and pile’s Monday.
Ecole Gron Morgan Public School students were spectators to a unique performance by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
The dancers are visiting Thunder Bay as a part of their annual 21 stop tour. The performers are all working to become professionals, and range in age from 16 to 20 years old.
Bruce Monk is one of the dance teachers. He says the goal of the tour is to introduce classical ballet and contemporary dance to those who may not otherwise be exposed to it.
This is the first time the school has hosted a performance like this, and Gron Morgan Public School vice-principal Michael Oades promised that it wouldn’t be the last.
Oades told TBT News the school will look for more opportunities to teach the students about the arts.
