THUNDER BAY -- Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has approved the transfer of several Thunder Bay nursing homes to a new operator.

Southbridge Care Homes has acquired Lakehead Manor on Vickers Street, Pinewood Court on Walsh Street, and Roseview Manor on Shuniah Street from Revera Long Term Care.

The facilities will operate under the banners Southbridge Lakehead, Southbridge Pinewood and Southbridge Roseview.

Southbridge CEO Keith McIntosh previously stated that the company intends to redevelop the Lakehead Manor site, which is older than the two other facilities.

Together, the three nursing homes have 416 beds.

Based in Cambridge, Southbridge operates 37 long-term care and retirement communities across Ontario and has over 3500 employees.
