THUNDER BAY — There will be more street sweepers taking over city streets in the near future.
Starting on Monday, April 28, the spring street sweeping program will fully begin across the city.
Crews will focus on removing sand that accumulated over the winter months on streets and sidewalks.
The downtown core areas, bike lanes, and arterial and collector streets will be targeted first, before operations move into residential areas.
“You’ll see our crews working across the city over the next several weeks,” said Ian Spoljarich, the city's roads manager said in a release.
“Street sweeping keeps streets safe and clean by clearing lanes, improving road visibility, reducing vehicle damage, and protecting our waterways. We appreciate everyone’s patience and caution around our crews.”
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use extra caution around street sweeping operations.
