NIPIGON, Ont. -- Officers with the OPP continue to look for an individual who sparked a manhunt in the area Thursday.

It started after officers came across an unoccupied vehicle in Patience Township. It turns out the vehicle had been stolen in Alberta, and carried licence plates stolen in Dryden.

Police set up checkpoints on area roads and conducted a groundsearch with canine units in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. Those searches failed to turn anything up. Police say the man they are looking for is a white male between the ages of 30 and 40 years-old. The man is said to have curly black hair.

Police say the search continued Friday and area residents have been asked to be on the lookout for anything suspicious.

They acknowledge the suspect may also have been picked up by an unsuspecting motorist and could possibly have left the area.
