THUNDER BAY — City police have arrested the woman wanted on a second-degree murder charge.
The Thunder Bay Police Service said a tip was received from a civilian on Friday that 56-year-old Johnna Sonego was at a south-side business after spotting her picture in a press release issued in the morning.
Investigators from the major crimes unit went to the location and subsequently arrested the woman without any incident during the lunch hour on Friday afternoon
The accused is expected to be arraigned in court on July 1.
Sonego is the second suspect now in custody for second-degree murder, after the first accused, 41-year-old Cameron Gary-James Adomko, was already in police custody on other charges when he was re-arrested Wednesday and subsequently charged with the second-degree murder of 67-year-old Darlene Giba.
Emergency services responded to a home in the 200 block of Mary Street East. The victim had died from serious injuries that are believed to be consistent with an assault.
Thunder Bay police Det.-Insp. Jeremy Pearson indicated that the scene is still being processed, and a murder weapon is still being sought.
