THUNDER BAY — For the second day in a row, an unusual spell of hot, humid weather has created a new temperature record in the city.
Environment Canada logged a temperature of 27.9 C at Thunder Bay Airport on Tuesday.
That just squeaked by the previous record of 27.8 C which was established 97 years ago.
On Monday, the high temperature was almost 29 C, breaking a 76-year-old record.
Although the forecast calls for unseasonably warm weather – 27 C or 11 degrees above normal – to continue, the likelihood is remote that Wednesday will also see a temperature record set, as the existing mark is 30.6 C.
