Section of Carrick Street closed due to flooding

City officials say high water levels and frozen culverts are to blame.

THUNDER BAY — A section of Carrick Street is closed due to flooding, according to the City of Thunder Bay.

The city said in a media release Tuesday afternoon that the street is closed between 11th Avenue and Hewitson Street, “due to flooding and frozen culverts.”

The Harbour Expressway, which intersects with Carrick along that stretch, remains open, the city said.

“The closure is in effect until further notice as crews work to address the situation and ensure public safety,” the city’s release said. “Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and drive with caution in the area.”

The city said that work crews are on-site, clearing ice blockages and improving drainage.
