THUNDER BAY – A section of High Street will be closed for up to 10 weeks as crews complete road resurfacing and other infrastructure work.
High Street South will be closed between Lisgar and Queen streets beginning on Monday.
Road access in the area will be allowed for local traffic only. Detour signs will be posted.
Drivers are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.
The closure is necessary to allow for water-main, sidewalk, and road work, the city said, which is expected to take up to 10 weeks.
The work will resurface the road and replace the watermain and associated service connections. Curb and gutter will be added as well as replacement sidewalks for most of the limits, and new sidewalks between Lisgar Street and Hester Street on the east side, according to a report from city staff presented in June.
