THUNDER BAY — Police have arrested a man in connection with an incident that saw a security guard taken to hospital for treatment of a stab wound.
The incident happened just after 2:00 a.m. Thursday outside but on the property of Spence Court, an apartment complex on Amelia Street West.
Thunder Bay Police said officers responding to a report of an assault found that the guard had injuries consistent with a stabbing.
Police and paramedics provided medical assistance at the scene before the victim was transferred to hospital with wounds that are not considered life-threatening.
Members of the TBPS break & enter and robbery unit later identified and apprehended a suspect.
The 33-year-old city resident is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and four counts of breach of probation.
He was remanded into custody for a future court appearance.
The Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board, which operates Spence Court, has issued a statement clarifying that the accused man is not a tenant of the building.
CEO Bill Bradica said "Our thoughts are with the security guard that has been injured . . . We thank the Thunder Bay Police Service for the timely arrest."
