THUNDER BAY -- In a post on social media, OPP confirmed the highway reopened around 8:30 pm.

Ontario Provincial Police had closed Highway 102 near Townline Road while they investigated a serious motor vehicle collision.

Police confirmed that the collision involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle, and reported that two people have sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

In the post, OPP Const. Joel Eppinghaus thanked investigators during the several-hour closure.

"A special #ThankYou to the OPP's Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team & the Technical Collision Reconstructionist (TCI) for completing their evaluations at the scene & getting the highway re-opened."

Eppinghaus urged drivers to be more careful on the roads, especially during snowy conditions as OPP have received reports of multiple collisions and road incidents.
