Several types of waffles recalled

The recall was triggered by the company, according to the CFIA website.

THUNDER BAY — Multiple brands of frozen waffles are being recalled over listeria concerns.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling 24 types of frozen waffles ranging from the Selection brand, no name, Great Value, Compliments and Western Family.

Most of the recalled items come in packs of eight or 16 and vary in flavour, from the original and buttermilk flavours to chocolate chip and blueberry.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses.

The CFIA says food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes might not look or smell bad, but it could still make someone sick.

Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth.

It is suggested not to consume the recalled products.

The items can either be thrown out or returned to the location they were purchased.
