SHUNIAH, Ont. — Two sidewalk plows owned by a private business were destroyed by a fire in Shuniah late Monday night.
At about 11:15 p.m., Shuniah Fire & Emergency Services responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a fire in 500 block of Lakeshore Drive, near Duke's Trailer Court.
When crews arrived, they found the plows engulfed in fire, in close proximity to other vehicles, heavy equipment and a commercial garage.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock the fire down and prevent it from spreading.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Nineteen Shuniah firefighters and five firefighters from Pass Lake answered the call, which came in shortly after Shuniah crews had assisted Pass Lake firefighters at a sauna fire on Portage Drive in Pass Lake.
An official said the sauna was destroyed, but other details were not immediately available.
