MISSISSAUGA, ON — Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has terminated an investigation into a complaint that a youth suffered a broken wrist when she was arrested on the Long Lake # 58 First Nation.
The incident happened on July 21, 2021.
According to an SIU statement Wednesday, officers with Ontario Provincial Police arrested a girl following a domestic disturbance at her family's residence.
The youth was taken to the local detachment and lodged in a cell before being released into the custody of her legal guardian.
The SIU said she was found to have injured her wrist prior to the officers' arrival.
It was also determined that no bones had been fractured.
SIU Director Joseph Martino said that, under the circumstances, the agency had no jurisdiction in the matter.
As a result, the file was closed.
