THUNDER BAY – A total of six people have been arrested as a result of two separate drug-trafficking investigations according to the Thunder Bay Police Service.

In one investigation, the TBPS intelligence unit, with assistance from the emergency task unit and the OPP’s organized crime enforcement bureau, carried out a search warrant at a residence on Secord Street on Oct. 24.

Four suspects were found in the residence and arrested.

One kilogram of suspected cocaine was seized along with a loaded handgun and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Four individuals, two from Thunder Bay, were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, knowledge of unauthorized use of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm.

A separate search warrant was carried out Thursday at a Machar Avenue residence where police say quantities of suspected cocaine, cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking were seized.

A male suspect was arrested after a brief pursuit.

Two people, one from Thunder Bay and one from Ottawa, were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when the case is unlikely to be followed to its conclusion through the courts.
