THUNDER BAY — Smile Cookie season is once again almost upon us.

From Monday through to May 4, Smile Cookies will be available at Tim Hortons restaurants in Thunder Bay with all of the proceeds being donated to the George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation and the Dew Drop Inn.

The cookies are Tim Hortons chocolate chunk cookies with a hand-decorated icing smile.

“We’re so excited to be selected again this year as a Smile Cookie partner,” said Cindy Levanto, CEO of George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation, in a news release issued Wednesday. “This is such a fun campaign. We’re always so glad to see the community come together, whether it’s to volunteer or buy cookies, and support two organizations that help people locally. These funds will help support the programs, equipment and services that give kids at our centre access to speech, physical and social therapies.”

Dew Drop Inn executive director Michael Quibell is also happy to be part of the campaign.

“Fundraisers like this make a real difference for us,” he said, also in the news release. “Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re able to continue serving a good meal to those who need it every single day. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s involvement in making this fundraiser a success.”

Smile Cookie campaigns have raised more than $111 million across North America since 1996 and last year $96,000 was raised in Thunder Bay.
