THUNDER BAY -- Environment Canada has adjusted its snow storm watch and issued a winter storm warning for Thunder Bay, saying up to 45 centimetres of snow could fall between now and Wednesday.
Snow is expected to begin falling on Sunday evening, with the heaviest snowfall expected on Monday and Tuesday.
Between 25 and 45 centimetres of snow could collect in the city and surrounding area.
Environment Canada warns of reduced visibility in heavy and blowing snow, with peak snowfall rates of between two to three centimetres per hour.
The storm is being blamed on a slow-moving Colorado low.
There is also a risk of freezing rain or ice pellets on Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
The public is advised to put off all non-essential travel until conditions improve.
