THUNDER BAY -- The snow is on its way.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the City of Thunder Bay, predicting that as much as 20 cm of the white stuff could touch beginning Friday night.
In its snowfall warning, the government weather agency says a low pressure system from the Prairies will intensify as it heads this way. Snow is expected to start falling over areas near Lake Superior overnight.
About 15 cm is expected within the city, while 20 cm is possible for areas closer to the U.S. border.
The snow is expected to taper off on Saturday.
Despite the arrival of snow, there doesn’t appear to be an immediate end to the recent cold snap. Overnight lows of -31C and -28C are expected Sunday night into Monday morning and Monday night into Tuesday morning respectively.
