THUNDER BAY — The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will help kick off the summer season in Thunder Bay next year.

The Snowbirds' schedule for 2023, released Tuesday, lists a two-day show over Thunder Bay in early June to kick off their tour of 21 Canadian and two American communities.

The aerobatics team last flew over the city in May 2020 during Operation Inspiration, a cross-country tour to recognize essential workers for doing their part to stop the spread of COVID-19.

A spokesperson told TBnewswatch there will be full, 30-minute shows on both June 3 and June 4 over the harbour.

The Snowbirds, who fly modified CT-114 Tutor jet aircraft, are expected to arrive in the city on June 1 and practise some manoeuvres on June 2.

The waterfront show will be carried out in conjunction with some activities at Marina Park to be held by the City of Thunder Bay.

A city official said details of these events are still in the planning stages.
