Soapbox racers ready to go

THUNDER BAY – The 12th annual George Jeffrey Children’s Centre Soapbox Races are set to hit the Waverley Park hill this weekend. Preparations for the event begin Friday, with soapbox car inspections being held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

THUNDER BAY – The 12th annual George Jeffrey Children’s Centre Soapbox Races are set to hit the Waverley Park hill this weekend.

Preparations for the event begin Friday, with soapbox car inspections being held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. That will be followed by a mandatory driver and pit crew meeting at the trailer on the hill at 6 p.m.

The hill will be open for practice runs from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Races begin on Saturday at 8 a.m., with the Thrill of the Hill adult races taking place at 12:30 p.m.

Racing will continue throughout the day with finals scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
